Darwin – The Esplanade and the War – is a glorious walk along Darwin’s sparkling waterfront and esplanade, as I recount the day the war came to Australia. A dramatic day in Australian history.
Darwin is in the land of the Rainbow Serpents, and of ferocious white ants. It’s where the Larrakias have lived for 60,000 years, followed by Westerners and then the Chinese. They all become pole diggers, and then gold diggers. Darwin city centre is certainly full of stories.
